Dr Helen HcNamara: Fertility Specialist | Newlife IVF

Dr Helen McNamara

Fertility specialist & Gynaecologist

MBBS (HONS) BMEDSC (HONS) PGDIPSURGANAT MRMED FRANZCOG

She has a particular interest in supporting patients whose fertility may be affected by underlying gynaecological conditions, such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids and pelvic pain.

Helen graduated with honours from Monash University and completed her specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology through the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne. She then undertook a two-year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery through the prestigious Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Society, developing expertise in minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of complex gynaecological conditions – including advanced (Stage IV) endometriosis, which can impact fertility.

Fascinated by the interaction between nature and science, Helen was drawn to fertility care and the opportunity to help families experience the joy of welcoming a baby into the world. She is passionate about tailoring treatment to each patient’s unique journey, combining a thorough, scientific approach with warmth, empathy and clear communication.

‘Newlife IVF is a group of clinicians truly invested in providing patient-centred care at the highest level,’ says Helen. ‘Everyone values clear communication, staying at the forefront of science and working together to achieve the best outcomes for every patient.’

Helen particularly enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with her ‘kind, clever and hardworking colleagues’ to deliver the best possible care at every stage of her patients’ fertility journey.

When she’s not at work, Helen enjoys spending time outdoors – especially near the sea and sand. She’s a keen baker (her banana and passionfruit cake is a crowd favourite) and a proud member of a close-knit book group with five of her best girlfriends, where the conversation flows as easily as the laughter.
