Scientific team

Our embryologists’ role in your fertility care

During each stage of your fertility journey, our world-class science team supports you by:

  • Assessing egg and sperm quality – identifying mature eggs and the highest-quality sperm available for use in IVF
  • Overseeing key steps of IVF – preparing eggs and sperm for IVF procedures, performing insemination procedures (standard insemination, intracytoplasmic sperm injection [ICSI], piezoelectric intracytoplasmic sperm injection [PIEZO], hyaluronic acid [HA], intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection [IMSI] and calcium activation), monitoring embryo development, grading embryos, and performing embryo transfer, biopsy and vitrification procedures
  • Managing key steps of IUI – processing sperm samples to remove seminal plasma and concentrate motile sperm, as well as handling and loading the catheter for intrauterine insemination
  • Preserving fertility through cryopreservation – performing vitrification, a rapid freezing process used to preserve eggs, sperm and embryos for future use
  • Managing the thawing process – optimal warming of eggs, sperm and embryos to prepare for use in an IVF cycle
  • Coordinating genetic testing of embryos – performing embryo biopsy for genetic analysis of embryos to assess their suitability for transfer.

Many patients have limited exposure to what happens inside the laboratory, but our embryologists prioritise open communication throughout your fertility journey. We keep you informed about the status of your eggs, sperm and embryos, providing reassurance and confidence at every stage.
